Harry Boland died in St. Vincent’s Hospital on 1 August 1922 after being shot by Free State troops the night before in a Skerries hotel. A veteran of the 1916 Rising and close ally of Michael Collins and Eamon de Valera during the War of Independence, Harry opposed the Treaty and paid for it with his life.
To mark the centenary of his death, a committee made up of descendants of Harry’s brother Gerald and sister Kathleen and friends has organised three days of events.
